Event details
Drawn together in 2019 by a common interest in contemporary chamber music and the unique history of the Latvian folk song tradition, Latvian violinist Sophia Kirsanova and Australian pianist Georgina Lewis joined forces to explore hidden gems of Latvian and new music. The partnership has led to a wider exploration of contemporary art music and its role in story-telling, inspiring hope and drawing people together. The duo has performed to full houses at the Melbourne Recital Centre Salon, Tempo Rubato, and the Melba Hall Lunch Hour Concert Series.
After a two-year hiatus, Sophia and Georgina reunite to bring the rich music from the Baltics to Kew Courthouse. Hear beloved favourites for violin and piano by Estonian composer Arvo Pärt, alongside rarely heard gems by Latvians Pēteris Vasks,Erik Ešenvalds, Platons Buravicky, and more.
