Event details
One of Australia's most captivating jazz vocalists and violinists returns to the Kew Court House for a rare and intimate performance.
A regular favourite at Kew Court House, Fem Belling is more often found touring internationally than performing in such an intimate setting, making this a special opportunity to experience her artistry in one of the most gorgeous rooms in town.
Playing a 5-string violin, Fem has created a unique sound through tandem voice and violin improvisation. She is a master force in the art of standard’s-singing with a sophisticated palate embracing a spectacular breadth of range.
Hailing from musical dynasty, she has performed alongside Gregory Porter, Emanuel Harrold, Reggie Watts, Women of Soul, Femi Kuti, Seun Kuti, Chet Faker, Darius Brubeck, Afrospace Interchange, Joe Chindamo, John Foreman, Allan Zavod, Hugh Masekela, Ebo Taylor, The Public Opinion Afro Orchestra (ARIA nomination) to name a few.
Drawing on her South African heritage, international jazz career and gift for storytelling, Fem will share an eclectic repertoire spanning jazz standards, South African jazz classics and original compositions.
Joined by some of her closest musical collaborators and dearest friends, this promises to be an evening of virtuosity, warmth, spontaneity and a few giggles.
