Presiding over a kingdom of feel-good swing and fiery improvisation, this powerhouse 5-piece brings together some of Australia’s most accomplished jazz artists.
Fronted by the magnetic Alinta Chidzey (acclaimed vocalist, songwriter and star of stage musicals Moulin Rouge, Chicago and West Side Story), the Emperors perform original songs from their debut album ‘I Got You’ and rearranged standards inspired by Ella, Coltrane and Gregory Porter.
Led by tenor saxophonist Remco Keijzer (Michael Bublé, You Am I, The Bamboos), the band features an all-star lineup: Mark Fitzgibbon (Lee Kunitz, Ronnie Scott) on piano, Ben Hanlon on bass (Melbourne Symphony Orchestra), and Danny Farrugia on drums (The Cat Empire, Tina Arena).
Together, they serve up reimagined standards, all delivered with swagger, humour and explosive energy.
