Davey Lane
Davey Lane is one of Australian rock’s most versatile guitarists, songwriters and musical collaborators. Best known as lead guitarist for You Am I, which he joined in 1999, Lane brought a sharp melodic sensibility and extra live-wire guitar bite to one of the country’s most revered bands. He is also the frontman and driving force behind The Pictures, his own Melbourne rock outfit, and has built a broad creative life across solo releases, session work and collaborations with artists including Tim Rogers, Jimmy Barnes, Crowded House, Robyn Hitchcock, Vika & Linda and The Wrights. A gifted multi-instrumentalist with deep pop instincts and a restless musical curiosity, Lane moves easily between crunchy power-pop, classic rock, psychedelia and finely crafted songwriting. Whether sideman, bandleader or solo artist, he remains a distinctive and much-loved figure in Australian music.
