04/11/2026 7:30 pm 04/11/2026 8:30 pm Brian Nankervis: The Beach House Years 'Seahaven' shimmers in the heat, looking across grass, scrub and sea, facing north, shaped like a Vita Brits box. Four rooms, louvered windows, concrete paths and a swing.Brian Nankervis always dreamed of owning a beach house. The Beach House Years is a story from this dream, performed by Brian. The Beach House Years follows the Findlay family at 'Seahaven' over forty years in a funny and tender celebration of family, rituals, holidays and the classic Australian beach house.  The Beach House Years is a big-hearted theatrical experience told with a keen ear for Australian vernacular and a sharp eye for the stories of summers past. Brian Nankervis knows the place the hallowed beach households in the hearts of so many of us. Exploring one family's decades-long relationship to a rundown fibro shack, Nankervis transports us through the joys and disappointments, the loves and losses, the raucous nights of the Findlay family as they come together each year by the coast.Through this deceptively simple piece of theatre performance, we witness a broader, deeper story about what makes a family tick - the loving moments, the unexpected spats, the falling outs and the coming backs. Generating tears and whole lot of laughs, the stories that comprise The Beach House Years ring undeniably familiar and bewitchingly true. It is a performance piece I've thought about long after the curtain came down - Elizabeth McCarthy, Program Director, Queenscliff Literary festivalBrian NankervisBrian has been writing, producing and co-hosting ‘RocKwiz’ since 2005.
