‘Annie’s War’ is an award-winning children’s book, written by Lucy Bracey and illustrated by Gregory Mackay. It shares the true story of the Slade family who lived in Kew during and after World War I. The book aims to provide young people in our community a deeper understanding of the lasting impact World War I had on Boroondara.

In 2020, Annie’s War was awarded the Victorian Community History Award Historical Interpretation Award, which recognises the most outstanding local history project presented in a unique format. The Victorian Community History Awards are presented by Public Record Office Victoria and Royal Historical Society of Victoria
