The Boroondara Creative Network (BCN) is a free bi-monthly event held at the Hawthorn Arts Centre.

The BCN advocates and supports the local creative community by offering a way for people to connect, share their ideas and achievements, and find out about opportunities to grow as a creative group of people.

It’s a welcoming and safe environment, with an emphasis on getting to know other creatives in Boroondara, and learning about industry and community trends. It is also a fantastic way to find out about upcoming Council and community opportunities.

A typical meeting starts off with a light lunch and then a discussion led by community and arts leaders.

Topics of discussion are chosen by the network, with Boroondara Arts presenting interesting guest speakers who share their knowledge and experiences in a relaxed environment.

Guest speakers range from community groups to industry leaders such as The Guild of Objects, RaRa PR and Auspicious Arts. Topics have included:

  • writing funding applications and accompanying budgets
  • creating an online presence and tips for Instagram
  • goal setting
  • the artistic process
  • Arts Law.

“It’s a time for like-minded people to come together, connect and be energised by their peers.” Adrina Petrosian, member.
