Playing develops children's social skills, focus and self-control.

Playgroups are a great way for your child to learn through play and make new friends. They also provide an opportunity to meet and connect with parents.

Activities can include singing, dancing, craft, sports and free play. You can also offer your own ideas for activities to add variety to playgroup sessions.

In Boroondara, we have playgroups for:

  • parents and caregivers who speak other languages
  • grandparents
  • dads
  • parents with additional needs.

Find a local playgroup

Find a local playgroup that suits you, or get advice on how to start your own playgroup, on the Playgroup Victoria website.

You can also speak with your Maternal and Child Health nurse to find a playgroup near you. Find out how to contact a maternal and child health nurse on our Maternal and Child Health Service page.
