COVID-19: in-person events are postponed and there are changes to council services.

Now in its third year, the Boroondara Creative Network (BCN) is a free bi-monthly event held at the Hawthorn Arts Centre. It’s a welcoming and safe environment, with an emphasis on getting to know other creatives in Boroondara, and learning about industry and community trends. It is also a fantastic way to find out about upcoming Council and community opportunities!

A typical meeting starts off with a light lunch and then a discussion led by community and arts leaders. Topics of discussion are chosen by the network, with Boroondara Arts presenting interesting guest speakers who share their knowledge and experiences in a relaxed environment.

Guest speakers range from community groups to industry leaders such as The Guild of Objects, RaRa PR and Auspicious Arts. Topics have included writing funding applications and accompanying budgets, creating an online presence and tips for Instagram, goal setting, the artistic process and Arts Law.

“It’s a time for like-minded people to come together, connect and be energised by their peers.” Adrina Petrosian, member.

The next BCN is on Saturday 29 May 2021, and is a great opportunity for new and not so new members to come along. We will be undertaking “speed networking” activities for community members to meet, be inspired, forge collaborations and find out what makes us tick as the Boroondara creative community.
