Amendment C284 Part 1

Amendment C284 Part 1 proposes to implement the recommendations of the Hawthorn Heritage Gap Study to include a number of heritage places and heritage precincts in the Heritage Overlay on a permanent basis to the Boroondara Planning Scheme.

Current Status (March 2021)

Following Council’s decision to adopt Amendment C284 Part 1 at the 24 August 2020 Ordinary Meeting of Council, the Minister for Planning has approved the amendment. The amendment came into effect on Friday 12 March 2021 following the publication of a notice in the Government Gazette[PDF, 364KB].

The Minister for Planning approved the amendment as adopted by Council and included the removal of interim Heritage Overlays from the following properties now not proposed to be included in the Heritage Overlay on a permanent basis:

  • 823-825 Glenferrie Road, Hawthorn
  • 1A and 2A Rae Street, Hawthorn
  • 328, 330, 1/332, 2/332, 334, 336 and 340 Barkers Road, Hawthorn
  • 4, 6-10, 12, 26-34 and 40 Lennox Street Hawthorn 
  • 1A-15 Malmsbury Street, Hawthorn 
  • 141 and 147 Riversdale Road, Hawthorn 
  • 4 Marian Street, Hawthorn
  • 19 and 23 Robinson Street, Hawthorn

We are currently preparing written notification to send to all affected property owners and occupiers about the Minister’s decision.
