Amendment C294 proposes to implement the recommendations of the Kew Heritage Gap Study.

Current status (September 2020)

Council adopted Amendment C294 Part 2 at the 24 August 2020 Ordinary Meeting of Council.

On 24 August 2020, Council considered the independent Panel’s report and resolved to adopt Amendment C294 Part 2.

You can access a copy of the Council report here.

In accordance with the resolution, Council has now submitted the amendment to the Minister for Planning for final approval.  Council is now awaiting the Minister’s decision.

Once the Minister for Planning has made a decision on Council’s request for approval, Council will notify all affected and adjoining property owners and occupiers as well as submitters of the Minister’s decision.

Council has also lodged a separate request to remove the interim Heritage Overlay for those precincts that no longer form part of the amendment (Goldthorns Hill and Environs Precinct, Clifton Estate Residential Precinct). Removal of the interim Heritage Overlay requires approval from the Minister for Planning.

Interim Heritage Overlay Extended

The interim Heritage Overlay introduced on 19 May 2019 will continue to apply until a final decision on Amendment C294 Part 2 has been made by the Minister for Planning.  The interim Heritage Overlay is currently scheduled to expire on 12 March 2021.
