Interim Heritage Overlay approved
On 15 August 2018, Officers from the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning approved Amendment C283 under delegation from the Minister for Planning.
Amendment C283 introduces an interim Heritage Overlays to 452 Barkers Road, Hawthorn East (HO773).
The interim Heritage Overlay came into effect on 6 September 2018 when a notice of the approval was published in the Victorian Government Gazette.
A planning permit is now required under the Heritage Overlay for demolition, alterations and additions and any new building on the site. This will require assessment against Clause 22.03 (Heritage Policy) and the Heritage Overlay.
The permanent Heritage Overlay for this property will be pursued as part of the amendment implementing the recommendations of the Hawthorn East Heritage Gap Assessment later this year.
