It is with great pride that I announce Council’s adoption of the Boroondara Community Plan 2017-27.
This plan has been a long time in the making.
As Councillors, we represent the interests of the community and it is our responsibility to shape a municipality that aligns with current and future community needs and aspirations.
So before embarking on the development of the 10-year plan to guide Council, we needed to understand what was important to the community.
We undertook the largest community consultation in Boroondara’s history and received 11,845 responses. This consultation told us clearly what you valued.
Seven key priority themes emerged, and themes form the basis of the Boroondara Community Plan.
You have told us what is important to you. We have listened to you and this plan will guide Councillors and Council staff to deliver what you told us you wanted.
Thank you to all the community members who have been involved in developing the plan to help shape the future of Boroondara.
Whether you have been involved in creating the plan or not, we want to hear your views. We will be reviewing the plan at the beginning of every Council term to ensure it remains relevant.
I would personally like to invite you to the official launch of this plan to celebrate this incredible achievement.
Join us at the Boroondara Village Festival on Sunday 4 March from 12pm to 4pm, Hawthorn Arts Precinct, to celebrate what’s great about Boroondara.
