Transcript

Hello, I’m pleased to say that Council’s Budget for 2019-20 was recently adopted. Here are some highlights of what we will deliver.

Council will continue to deliver more than 150 different services for our community, as well as make significant investments in a number of new projects. In response to your feedback, we have brought forward the delivery of a Food Organics and Garden Organics service, which will mean you can put food and garden waste into the same bin from May 2020.

Through our Boroondara Customer First project, we will work towards providing the platforms to allow you to interact with us in your preferred way, anytime, anywhere, on any device - ensuring convenience and ease when dealing with Council.

We know you value our community centres, and we will renew and construct a number of these; including the Kew Recreation Centre, the Canterbury Community Precinct, the Camberwell Community Centre, the Ashburton Seniors Centre and the Balwyn Community Centre.

We will continue to provide high quality services - including family, youth, library and aged care support, as well as ensure our infrastructure is maintained at a high standard. Importantly, we are continuing to invest funds towards sustainability initiatives -including biodiversity programs, efficiency upgrades and solar photovoltaics, the Boroondara Sustainable Living Festival and a waste minimisation and recycling strategy program.

Through this budget, we will ensure that Boroondara continues to be a vibrant and inclusive City, meeting the needs and aspirations of our community. For more information, please visit our website.
