[Kookaburra Bird Call]

(Waa Waa) everybody my name's Annette and I'm from Yarn Strong Sista
and I'm going to be sharing storytelling with you as part of the City of Boroondara's Reconciliation
Week.
I'll be reading this story for you Yurri's Birthday, and this book written by Auntie
Sue Atkinson and she's a Yorta Yorta woman.
The illustrations I've actually completed.
And I've used natural materials and recycled materials for collage.
As part of the story telling we're going to be making a special gift from country, a bush
bouquet. So leading up to the storytelling you'll need to collect.
Gum leaves and maybe gumnuts
Sticks maybe you could collect these off the ground.
Have a look around your front yard in the backyard and the nature stripe to see if you've
got any bark, hard bark or paper bark
This is some of the plants that are out of my front garden.
You'll need ribbon
Wool
and scissors
This is the bush bouquet that I've prepared
Notice how I've got the gum leaves. I've got the cockatoo feather, the galah feather, and
the sticks
I've also used the wool to tie it all together
If you don't have these natural materials. You can bring some papers, textas and pens
and pencils and crayons and we'll be sharing a tracking activity.
So join me as I share aboriginal culture with you.
(Gee) Bye.
