Boroondara is a remarkable place to live, work, study and play.

It’s home to a diverse and highly engaged community who embrace the lifestyle and opportunities that come with living here, from:

  • the heritage and character of our neighbourhoods,
  • our parks and green spaces,
  • and the services helping people live healthy and fulfilling lives.

Council plays an important role in supporting this way of life.

To ensure we deliver on the needs and aspirations of our community, in 2016 we asked: ‘what’s important to you in Boroondara?’ The answers led to the development of our key strategic document known as the Boroondara Community Plan.

With so much changing in the past four years, it was important to check back in with our community and renew our Plan.

In late 2020 and 2021, over 5000 people had their say in a survey, as well as a series of workshops involving people from all different cohorts to ensure the views of our diverse community were represented.

We are pleased to present the renewed Boroondara Community Plan 2021-31.

You told us how you would like to see Council focus its resources over the next 10 years and confirmed the seven priority themes which will continue to drive Council’s decision making. 

These include:

  • Community, Services and Facilities
  • Parks and Green Spaces
  • The Environment
  • Neighbourhood Character and Heritage
  • Moving Around
  • Local Economy
  • Leadership and Governance.

Each theme is supported by a strategic objective, which outlines what the community wants to achieve over the next 10 years.

For the first time, the Boroondara Community Plan incorporates our Council Plan and Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan, which helps to provide a clear line of sight between our community’s vision, our wellbeing commitment, and how they will be achieved

Our plans, processes, strategies, budget decisions and operational actions are informed by the Boroondara Community Plan. By following this plan, we can be confident that we are delivering what our community needs now and into the future.
