In a big city there was a boy called Tom who lived with his Mum and Dad.

One day Tom was riding his bike to school.

He was happy, but he didn’t know about a new virus that was about to rule the world, the whole entire earth.

He also didn’t know that his school had closed. Oh, drat!

Hello, I’m here to tell you about our book – the Boroondara Bubble Book.

It’s full of stories about our life in lockdown.

And what is a bubble story?  That’s a story about what we were doing, or thinking about the things that matter to us, while we were living in our bubbles in the extended lockdown in September 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In lockdown, we have been making pizzas.

First, we put the cheese and sauce on the pizza dough.

The day before isolation… hmm, what am I going to do? This is going to be so boring.

This is so fun!

Went into Mum’s room afterwards and she told me that I look like Suzi Quatro.

Virus Man versus Corona…

In the time of coronavirus only one can help.

He vaccinated the poor, tested the unsure and made rules.

We’re now in Stage 4 lockdown.

Of course, he couldn’t do it on his own. He fought!

I am Virus Man – I will eliminate you virus!

The numbers still going up.

Oxford, even Oxford was unsure.

Oh, come on!

……

Hello! Woof

Hello! Woof

We have seen lots of dogs.

I have been having zoom meetings with my friends. Chat chat…

We played lots of Uno Cards after dinner.
Uno!
What!

There is this author called Trace Bella, who makes comics and has won lots of awards.

And she made a bubble book about a family living through lockdown and then she ran an online workshop with Boroondara libraries and Kids’ Own Publishing.

And we made our stories and then all those stories got put together into our bubble book.

I am drawing, I am drawing about… I couldn’t, I couldn’t race other people and go Little Athletics so I had to race my Dad.

And he is very slow.

Then lockdown ended… happy!

And we were finally able to leave our houses.

Some of us met together to read our stories to each other in real life.

It’s called the Boroondara Bubble Book because we live in this area and it was done through Boroondara libraries.

That is where you can find it and read it and borrow it.

Or you might prefer to read it online as well.

What was your bubble story?

Maybe you could make a bubble story of your own.

My neighbour’s cat visited us often.

Me… we plucked flowers on our walks.
