Lili is one of 3 authors who will make up the Boroondara Literary Awards judging panel for this year.

A judge for the second year running, Lili Wilkinson, is the acclaimed author of 12 books, including Green Valentine and Pink. She is the creator of insideadog.com.au, the Inky Awards and the Inkys Creative Reading Prize at the State Library of Victoria.

Armed with a PhD in Creative Writing from the University of Melbourne, Lili now spends most of her time reading and writing books for teenagers and young people.

After judging the Young Writers prose category last year, Lili said she was impressed with the level of thought and awareness young people have about the world around them.

“Last year’s entries proved to me that young people are doing a lot of thinking about the environment, how to make our planet healthy, about poverty and homelessness. They think about body image, gender identity and sexuality,” said Lili.

“Most importantly, young people think about empathy, listening, being heard, the importance of kindness and equality, and about hope”.

The Boroondara Literary Awards are open for entry until Friday 30 August 2019.
