Along with Valentine’s Day, February 14th catered to another day of amour you may not have heard of − Library Lovers Day. As you can imagine, it’s a day to celebrate everything we love about our libraries.

If you were at Ashburton Library, you might have seen the letterbox where you could write a love letter to the library to share how you feel about them.

And you might have witnessed a special Bespoke Book Talk, where a group of library lovers discussed books about libraries and, surprise surprise, love – including The Historian, The strange library and Our tiny useless hearts.

A big thanks to all those who wrote us a love letter – they all set our hearts a-fluttering. You can see a few of the letters below or on Instagram.

But you don’t have to wait until next February to show your love for our libraries. Come visit us to borrow a book, attend a library event, use a computer or enjoy reading books, newspapers and magazines in our peaceful library spaces.

If you can’t come to us, the library is still there for you. Our lovely volunteers at the Home Library Service can bring books to you, and there’s a wealth of entertainment and learning in our digital collections.
