The 2017 Boroondara Literary Awards are now open for entries! This is the 19th year the awards have run in partnership with the Rotary Club of Balwyn.

There are two sections to the awards:

  • An open short story competition which is free to enter to Australian residents for stories between 1,500 and 3,000 words. You could win up to $1500 and there is a special prize, the Keith Carroll award, for the best entry by a Boroondara resident.
  • The second section is the Young Writers Competition, open to young people who either live, work or go to school in the City of Boroondara. This writing competition includes both Poetry and Prose in three age categories: Junior for Grades 5 & 6, Middle for Years 7 to 9, and Senior for Years 10 to 12 or ages 15 to 18 as at 1 January 2017. With a prize pool of over $5,000 for the Young Writers Competition it's time to get writing before entries close at 5pm on 25 August.
