Take some time to learn something new or advance the skills you already have with a range of online learning opportunities available to you, for free, with your Boroondara Library Service membership.
Log in using your Library Membership Number and 6 digit PIN. Your PIN should be your date of birth (DDMMYY).
If you don't have a library card you can still join online and use the temporary membership number.
Try an online course
Lynda has a huge range of online courses and learning pathways. You can upskill to the latest version of Microsoft Office, learn project management skills, or focus on creative pursuits with courses in animation, music composition and photography. Each completed course comes with a downloadable certificate and there are courses for the beginner to advanced learner.
If Lynda doesn’t have the right course for you, there is also a world of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCS) available for free.
EdX has over 2,500 courses from the world’s top Universities. MIT, Harvard and the Australian National University are just some of institutions that have offered their courses for free online.
Coursera partners with universities and some of the world’s leading companies to offer free courses. Google, IBM and Cisco are just some of the recognisable names you’ll see when browsing through the list of available courses.
Learn a language
Now is also the perfect time to start or rediscover a different language. With Transparent Language Online you can choose from a collection of more than 80 languages. It has English as a Second Language courses for native speakers of 28 other languages, and offers some languages in ‘Kidspeak’, courses designed for children aged 6 and above.
While learning a new language, you can also practise your reading comprehensions skills with magazines and newspapers from around the world using PressReader. With titles in over 60 languages from Albanian to Zulu, you’re sure to find something to practice your new language skills.
