Boroondara children were there to see it all during the pandemic that affected our whole community, in a seemingly endless cycle of:

  • lockdowns
  • restrictions
  • openings and closures
  • social distancing.

To help them document their day-to-day lives through their own words and artwork, we held online workshops with local children in September 2020.

The result is two community books:

  • 'Through my window... Lockdown in Boroondara through kindergarten children’s eyes', features the drawings and thoughts of children aged 3 to 5 who attended kindergarten throughout the pandemic.
  • The second book, 'Our Boroondara Bubble - Stories of how we got through lockdown in 2020', is a collection of stories and reflections from children aged 4 to 12 on what life was like for them during Melbourne’s lockdowns.

Book launch

Both books were launched on Tuesday 23 March, 2021 at an event at Hawthorn Arts Centre.
