Library reopening 29 May 2020

Our libraries are reopening from Monday 1 June 2020. Visitors must book an appointment.

Update - 9 April 2020: Some of our services and facilities remain closed for the foreseeable future, as directed by the Victorian Chief Health Officer.

We have temporarily closed all Boroondara Library Service facilities.
We have activated our Municipal Emergency Management Pandemic Plan and introduced these measures to protect the community and staff from the risks associated with coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Boroondara Library Service staff will be able to assist you by phone with general enquiries, as well as how to access our digital collections. .

Can I still borrow books?

Unfortunately you can’t borrow books physically from any of our libraries for the duration of the closure period. You can download items for free from our eBook and audiobook collections on any device, anytime.

I have Boroondara Library Service items currently on loan. Should I return these? And will I be charged if I don’t return them?

Our returns chutes are now closed, please hold onto your loaned material until we reopen. You will not incur any fines and you do not need to renew your items as the due dates have been extended until after we reopen. 

Can I access any library collections or services online?

There are a number of great resources that can be accessed online with your Boroondara Library Service membership number and 6 digit PIN (your date of birth - ddmmyy). You can now join the library online anytime to access online resources. See our closure resources news article to find out more about what is available and how to access our digital collections.

What about Boroondara Library Service programming?

All of our regular programs will be suspended during the closure, including community activities, workshops and children’s story times. We apologise for any inconvenience.

Our Library Youth Services team have begun preschool storytime online that you can enjoy streaming anytime 

I have a meeting room booked at one of the libraries. What does that mean for me?

We will be cancelling meeting room bookings with no charge.
