Growing up in a poor Athens neighbourhood and learning to play the Bouzouki in secret, away from a disapproving father, he went on to become one of the great Greek folk singers and songwriters.  Bithikotsis was dubbed “Sir” in 1960, a nickname reflecting the high regard he was held in Greece. Enjoy a celebration of the musical life of Grigoris Bithikotsis, showcasing his songs about working class life and the pains of love as well as stories of optimism and hope.
