Event details
Did you know that more than 6,000 kg of clothing and textiles are sent to landfill every 10 minutes?
But your old sportswear doesn’t have to become landfill!
We have collaborated with social enterprise Second Stitch to turn old sportswear into footy pockets. You will take the footy pockets, fill them with pre-consumer waste (find out what this is at the workshop) and then we will teach you how to stitch the footy closed. Find out more about Second Stitch on their website.
All materials will be provided. If you have any old sporting clothing that you no longer want leave it with us and we will give it a second life.
This activity is suitable for children aged 5 to 12 years old. Parents may be required to help.
A parent or guardian is required to stay within the Hawthorn Arts Centre during the workshop. There is space for you to work on a laptop in the workshop room or foyer spaces if required. You do not need a workshop ticket.
