Event details
Boroondara has many iconic places, spaces, and streetscapes for the community to enjoy.
Artist Angharad Neal-Williams has captured some of them in an illustrative mural spanning the Boroondara suburbs. The mural depicts our beautiful parks and gardens, buildings, sporting fields, and places of gathering and entertainment.
It is hoped each viewer of the artwork can connect with one of the locations, fostering great memories and stories to share with the community.
Explore and Create activity
Boroondara Arts invites all viewers to add to the streetscape mural with a simple craft activity available in the Explore and Create space at Hawthorn Arts Centre. You are invited to draw a picture or write a description of what you, your friends, and your family love to do within the Boroondara streetscape.
About Explore and Create
The Explore and Create space is regularly activated with interactive artworks to celebrate Town Hall Gallery exhibitions, highlight cultural events, or display community artwork.
Designed to engage children and adults alike, it is an opportunity to relax and create with fun activities to connect with your inner artist.
About the exhibition
‘Romancing the Streetscape’ celebrates the streetscapes and buildings of Melbourne and surrounds.
The featured artists slip between direct observation and imagination, revealing their unique perspectives of urban existence and our shared experiences of place. Highly realistic and evocative images of inner-city scenes reflect the romanticism often associated with traditional landscape painting.
