About the exhibitions Our Place: 20 Years of Town Hall Gallery ‘Our Place: 20 Years of Town Hall Gallery’ is a major exhibition celebrating the 20th anniversary of Town Hall Gallery. Significant artworks from the Town Hall Gallery Collection have been grouped within the themes of ‘People’, ‘Places’ and ‘Perspectives’, showcasing the vital role of the gallery in reflecting a sense of community and shared history in Boroondara. Featuring some of Australia’s most important artists of the 20th and 21st centuries, ‘Our Place: 20 Years of Town Hall Gallery’ recognises the breadth of talent living, working, or studying in the municipality. Magnetic examples of portraiture, vivid depictions of man made and natural places, and contemporary art forms translating unique ways of seeing the world, create a version of recent art history that celebrates 20 years of life and art in this place. Featuring: Yvonne Audette AM, Samara Adamson-Pinczewski, John Brack, Sir William Dargie CBE, Alfred Engel, Emily Floyd, Tony Lloyd, Helen Maudsley, Lin Onus, Selina Ou, Kylie Stillman, Fred Williams OBE, Dora Wilson, John Young AM and others. ‘Love the One You're With’ by Celia Moriarty Vibrant and intimate, ‘Love the One You’re With’ by Celia Moriarty is a community exhibition featuring large-scale paintings transporting viewers into the lush landscapes of Boroondara. Through detailed execution at a large scale, Moriarty pulls sharp focus on Australian native flora, often overshadowed by exotic species or underestimated in their significance to the local ecology. Moriarty celebrates the City of Boroondara’s parks and trails by documenting local subjects and their locations, highlighting how we can connect to nature in our everyday lives. ‘Love the One You’re With’ honours the natural beauty of Boroondara, reminding viewers of the importance of valuing and preserving our native plants and landscapes. By connecting us to the land we live in, Moriarty encourages us to live in harmony with nature and recognise the value of the environment surrounding us.
