It is important that people over the age of 70 limit their contact with others as much as possible to reduce their risk of contracting coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
During this challenging time, services such as community food programs are vital to ensure our older residents can access the basic necessities.
The Federal Government has announced it will allocate an additional $50 million to ensure more prepared meals, food staples and essential daily items are delivered to older residents.
People over the age of 70 who are isolated and have no support network will now be able to receive Meals on Wheels for up to 6 weeks prior to an assessment. This ensures people in this at-risk age group are able to access this service quickly to get the support they need.
If you would like to access this service or know someone who needs support, we encourage you to call My Aged Care on 1800 200 422.
