Ashburton Shopping Centre Traders Association Halloween on High Funding is requested for a Halloween trick or treat event in collaboration with Ashburton Community Centre on the morning of Saturday 28 October 2023 to encourage local families and children to visit the Ashburton Village shopping precinct and take part in the planned activities. $3,000.00
Ashburton Uniting Church Tennis Club 70th Anniversary of Ashburton Uniting Church Tennis Club The club is celebrating its 70th anniversary and is requesting funding assistance to run a celebration event with come and try opportunities for new members. The project will help promote the club to local residents and increase long term participation and membership at the club.  $1,375.00
AVA Boroondara Senior Citizens Group Inc. Social cohesion

The applicant is planning an event inviting 6 other cultural groups plus another Vietnamese group on 15 April 2023 at Kew Seniors Centre. The invited groups will have an opportunity to perform traditional dance and music and to teach the other groups in attendance.

Funding is requested for the purchase of costumes, a contribution towards the performance groups' transport fees, promotion, decoration, printing and catering for the event.

Boroondara Stroke Support Group Ongoing Support for both Stroke Survivors and their Carers Funding is requested for lawn bowls equipment, a photographic and art exhibition to create awareness of stroke, and contributions to activities for the Movie group and Sing for Recovery program to assist with developing neural pathways, socialisation and support for stroke survivors. $8,750.00
Bowen Street Community Centre Engaging Connecting Mural Facade Funding is requested to design and install an engaging mural in the walkway between the Centre's two buildings to create a visual connection and increase awareness of the Centre's expanded programming and an unveiling community event. $6,400.00
Camberwell Baptist Church Flourishing Neighbourhoods Funding is requested for the Flourishing Neighbourhoods project to create a sense of community by improving the gardens on site at Caroline and Munro Street public housing estates in Hawthorn East. It will involve the residents (55 years+), Access Health and Community, Camcare, Camberwell Baptist Church kindergarten children and teachers, local services, volunteers, and businesses. Funding is for building landscaped garden beds, materials and equipment. $10,000.00
Camberwell Lacrosse Club Establishment of under 10 girls and boys lacrosse program Funding is requested to establish an Under 10s Lacrosse program in Glen Iris for 100 participating girls and boys over a 14-week period. Funding will contribute to shared equipment and advertising. $4,729.00
Canterbury Area Toy Library Inc. Connecting through play Funding is requested to support weekly drop-in stay and play sessions to welcome new families to the new precinct. Funding will go to the purchase of equipment and sensory toys to also be used for school holiday events. $9,746.73
Canterbury Cougars  Basketball Club Coaches Equipment Funding is requested for the purchase of coaching bags to provide resources for training and first aid kits for game day. $2,000.00
Canterbury History Group Inc and Surrey Hills Historical Society Re-establishing the profile of Canterbury & Surrey Hills history groups Funding is requested to facilitate essential re-establishment of the profile of two Boroondara history groups in the context of a move to a combined facility at a new location. The grant will support costs associated with development of a joint website, equipment for community use and outreach activities, and software for both marketing and community connection.  $9,914.00
Canterbury Neighbourhood Centre Canterbury Umbrella Dementia Cafe Funding is requested to establish a twice-monthly Dementia Café at the Canterbury Community Precinct in 2023. The café will enhance the mental health and social connections of carers and people living with early/ moderate stage dementia in Boroondara. Funding will go to training for volunteers, materials, support equipment, advertising. $4,300.00
Cara Armstrong Kindergarten Indigenous Education Program Funding is requested for a new project implementing an indigenous education project for both the 3-year-old and 4-year-old groups at Cara Armstrong Kindergarten. The program will involve an external indigenous education organisation providing 8 incursions for the 3-year-old group and 8 incursions to the 4-year-old group. $6,900.00
Combined Probus Club of Auburn (Vic) Inc Christmas Function Funding is requested for a Christmas function for members at Kew Golf Club for club members to come together and encourage socialisation. $3,000.00
Craig Family Centre Project Harmony Funding is requested for a three-part project in response to isolation and anxiety within the community through:                       
1. Harmony Day event
2. Creation of our community cookbook
3. A series of cooking workshops, facilitated by members of our CALD community, bringing the cookbook to life.

Greythorn Early Childhood Education Centre and Kindergarten Strengthening learning connections to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture Funding is requested to support the installation of small artwork throughout the centre. The artwork will be indigenous symbols and imagery installed by local indigenous artists. It will be used as an inspiration for conversation with the children and other users of the space. This proposal is an extension of an existing project, which was not funded by Council . $3,500.00
Hawthorn Bowling Club Hawthorn Bowling Club 2023 Australia Day Community Bowling Tournament This application seeks funding assistance to run an Australia Day Community Bowling Tournament.  Funding from Council will support the club to consolidate its successes, run an even smoother and more successful tournament and bring bowlers, businesses, and community members together on a day of celebration of shared histories and love of bowls. $4,469.64
Hawthorn Glen Combined Probus Club Hawthorn Glen Combined Probus Club day out for members Funding is requested for a day trip by Ferry to Portarlington then bus to the QTrain for 3-hour train trip around the Bellarine Peninsular to Queenscliff including an enjoyable lunch on board, returning to Portarlington for the return Ferry trip back. Taking in the scenery and ocean air with a stop at Swan Bay. $990.00
Kew Community Christmas Carols Kew Community Christmas Carols 2022 Funding is requested to support the delivery of the 2022 Kew Christmas Carols held in conjunction with the Kew Junction Business association to entertain and connect all ages, CALD, disadvantaged and isolated communities. Funding will support lighting hire, a lead singer, one backing accompanist for all choirs and a Santa children's activities, candles, refreshments for the volunteers and printing.  $7,127.90
Kew Cricket Club Incorporated Female Cricket 'Come & Try' Days Funding is requested for a program to encourage more girls and women to play cricket through a series of come and try days at Victoria Park. The grant will support the running of these days by assisting in payment of female coaches to attend the 'come & try' sessions; by paying for modest catering during or at the conclusion of each session; by funding some modest equipment purchases (e.g. some smaller and lighter bats and balls). $5,100.00
Little Stars Playgroup Little Stars Playgroup Funding is requested to expand the playgroup and purchase of new sensory toys and educational resources and provide catering for morning tea for parents to connect and free play. $2,027.80
Lyon Foundation Limited T/A Lyon Housemuseum Galleries Community Open Day At The Lyon Housemuseum Galleries The funding request is to support an Open Day at Lyon House Museum Galleries for the Boroondara community to come and experience the cultural facility for free. The day will involve activities, exhibitions and offering catering from local businesses. Funding will support the delivery of the event, catering, marketing and promotion and evaluation of the event's impact on the community and local business. $8,550.00
Melbourne Hindustani Classical Music Society Melbourne International Festival of Hindustani Classical Music 2023 The funding request is to support the event delivery of the 2023 Melbourne International Festival of Hindustani Classical Music to be held at the Hawthorn Arts Centre and other Boroondara sites. The festival includes performances and workshops. $9,559.73
Men's Probus Club of Surrey Hills Inc Cultural Excursions

Funding is requested to assist with running four one-day cultural excursions by a self-drive bus. Self-drive buses will be utilised to provide value for money excursions and to enable more Members and their Partners to be able to participate.

Mind Australia Social Skills Training Group - Exploring Community Group Funding is requested to establish a social-skills training group for adults experiencing acute mental ill-health and isolation within Boroondara. Funding will enable behavioural rehearsal, feedback, positive reinforcement, and opportunities to utilise these skills during weekly trips to reengage clients in meaningful activities of daily life. The program will be a peer-led space, where people with a lived experience of mental illness will lead others within the community.  $9,710.00
North Balwyn Village Traders' Association Celebration Saturdays at The Village

Funding is requested for a project titled 'Celebration Saturdays at The Village', which runs over two Saturdays and encourages the local community to visit, engage and stay longer at the shopping precinct.

Leveraging the success of Council’s Bare to Beautiful intuitive, which included musical entertainment in front of vacant shopfronts, the proposed project features Bollywood dancers and a jazz trio visiting 5 stations across the precinct, highlighted by branded umbrellas. Branded aprons will also be offered to participating businesses.

Pied Piper Toy Library Promoting the Toy Library for New Memberships Funding is requested for a new project to rebuild membership numbers through resourced presentations at Maternal Child Health sessions and Ashburton Festival in addition to the purchase of Teracycle zero waste boxes to position outside the library for donation of unwanted toys. $9,950.00
Probus club of Camberwell The Activity Club Funding is requested for a range of activities including lawn bowls training sessions, table tennis, snooker and equipment for bridge, mah-jong, book club and sewing groups. This project will enhance health and well-being of club members through physical activity and mental stimulation. $2,950.00
Probus Club of Greythorn Inc. Activities to provide mental and physical stimulation Funding is requested for a project designed to provide stimulating and inclusive activities for our members that improves their well-being and health, and contributes to the primary aim of providing friendship, fellowship and fun. Funding is for subsidies for gallery visits (20 people), refreshments after the monthly discussion group (20 people), walking group refreshments (40-50 people), bus excursion (40 people), and cinema group (20 people). $2,240.00
Servants Community Housing Limited Uniting Diverse Boroondara Christmas Concert Funding is requested for an event at the Hawthorn Arts Centre in December, which will feature performances, and speeches from the Boroondara residents of Servant Community Housing properties, alongside other local groups, including local schools. The event aims to unite diverse groups of Boroondara's community. Funds sought will cover the venue costs of Hawthorne Arts Centre, photography, and COVID-19 safety costs. $6,500.00
Surrey Hills Neighbourhood Centre Inc. Lynden Ward Community Connection and Wellbeing Project Funding is requested to design, deliver and evaluate a 6-week pilot program of free community activities at Lynden Park Recreation Facility to support community connection, health and wellbeing. Seven activities will be offered in total (6 x 6-week classes/courses or equivalent) + 1 community event (community connection café/lunch).  The program design will be informed by the data collected from the community engagement activities conducted as part of the Lynden Park Reserve Placemaking Initiative in June 2022. Funding will contribute to program costs (e.g. tutor fees, administration, marketing, program design and materials/equipment expenses). $9,142.00
Surrey Hills Pre-school (SHPS) Understanding Australian Indigenous Culture in the Early Years Through Immersion Funding is requested to implement a new project to build understanding and respectful relationships with people who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. Funding is for a term of experiences that will involve age-appropriate incursions, play based learning using games, toys, and artefacts that have an indigenous influence, as well as the use of books about Aboriginal dream time, culture and history. The grant will support this proposal through funding the purchase of aboriginal specific toys, books, games, and artefacts, as well as age specific incursion from an Aboriginal organisation. $7,931.77
Swinburne Chorale Outreach Singing Workshops Funding is requested is to support a membership drive for the choir. The funds will support the delivery of five outreach workshops around Boroondara aimed at seniors to provide uplifting, community-building events, and socialisation through morning/afternoon tea. $4,474.00
The Leo Baeck Centre for Progressive Judaism Experiencing Culture Through Dancing Funding is requested to support the implementation of an Israeli folk dance program delivered at the Leo Baeck Centre that draws on common dances from countries of the Middle East and create to content for the website. Funding will enable a volunteer coordinator, sponsor a teacher, provide materials to participants, buy a computer to enable in-person and virtual participation and chronicling, and provide refreshments at each session to encourage further social interaction and participation. $8,019.80
The Probus Club of Balwyn Central Inc. 1-day outing during 2023 for Members, Partners, other Seniors Funding is requested for two excursions - one in Autumn and one in Spring - to places of interest for community cultural and leisure activities. This is especially of benefit to members experiencing disadvantage financially or in mobility. $1,350.00
The Scout Association of Australia, Victorian Branch - 1st Glen Iris Scout group Preparation for safe outdoor adventures by Scouting youth Funding is requested to purchase outdoor cooking equipment to upgrade to age-appropriate, durable and sustainable equipment, and conduct first aid training for 20 youth members.  $4,000.00
The Scout Association of Australia, Victorian Branch (Camberwell Showtime) Portable storage for Costumes and Tools Funding is requested to support the purchase of portable storage units to safely transport costumes, scenery, and tools to the Hawthorn Arts Centre for their annual performance.  $2,000.00
Uniting Church in Australia Property Trust (Victoria) - Boroondara Community Outreach Heart Beat Funding is requested to support the community art development process for a drumming, vocal and written performance piece called 'Heartbeat'. The development will engage the Boroondara community through outreach engagement and other community stakeholders. This project aims to help socially isolated people to engage with community, coming together to create a performance piece that breaks down barriers and stereotypes. $6,200.00
Victorian Goalball Association Inc Goalball Share Funding is requested for website development and associated equipment to increase awareness of Goalball for the vision impaired and increase membership for the club. $5,597.04
Victorian Weightlifting Association Incorporated Growing Stronger Together Funding is requested to create an introductory program for participants over 55, supported by a physiotherapist to assist those with physical limitations and create a supportive environment.  Funding will support the engagement of a coach and basic weightlifting equipment, advertising and materials. $3,722.60
Zelman Memorial Symphony Orchestra Inc Zelman Symphony 90th Anniversary Season Concert Funding is requested is to support one concert (The Bruch Double Concerto) as a part of the organisation's 90th-anniversary celebratory year, which will be held at Methodist Ladies College in Kew. Funding will cover advertising and printing costs and specialist performers. $5,300.00
