Home Library Service

Many of our residents are unable to visit the library in person. Our Home Library Service relies on volunteers to deliver and collect books and other materials to these people's homes. If you're interested in helping in this way, you'll need:

  • a current driver's licence
  • your own car
  • spare time on a regular basis (usually monthly)
  • a Police Record Check (we can arrange this for you).

    Volunteering opportunities for secondary students

Every year we have a small number of vacancies for secondary students taking part in:

    • The Duke of Edinburgh Program
    • community service placements.

For more information about these vacancies, ask a librarian or call 9278 4666.

    Computer Savvy Seniors

Computer Savvy Seniors run courses using library computers to teach basic computer and internet skills to senior residents.

If you're interested in volunteering as a trainer, you'll need:

    • a thorough understanding of computers (What does that mean? Ask us!)
    • a Police Record Check (we can arrange this for you)
    • spare time on a regular basis
    • patience and a flair for teaching.

    English Conversation Club

English Conversation Club is an hour-long weekly conversation class for adults who speak English as a second language. The aim is for them to practice speaking conversational English in a friendly setting.

If you're interested in volunteering as a tutor, you'll need:

    • experience as an English or ESL teacher or tutor
    • an understanding of cultural diversity
    • a Police Record Check (we can arrange this for you).

Note: We are fortunate to have many people interested in volunteering in our libraries.  As such, volunteer opportunities may not always be available for the following library programs:

    • Home Library Service
    • Computer Savvy Seniors
    • English Conversation Club
