Between Monday 1 February and Monday 22 March 2021, the City of Boroondara delivered a campaign called Thanks Boroondara.

The campaign recognised the role Boroondara residents play in contributing to a more vibrant local economy and the support they provide to each and every business.

The purpose of the campaign was to say thank you to everyone in Boroondara for shopping local throughout COVID-19. Thanks to the shopping choices of local residents, local businesses, families, community clubs, charities and jobs have been supported.

Continuing to support local businesses

Due to COVID-19 pandemic, many businesses in Boroondara were forced to close or limit operations as a result of Victorian Government restrictions and social distancing requirements. This impacted their ability to provide services and products to the community and to continue to employ staff.

Despite the challenges faced, some businesses continued to operate, with many adapting and diversifying their offerings to stay afloat, keep staff employed and meet the needs of the local community.

As restrictions have eased and businesses re-open, residents are encouraged to continue to support the local business community This means choosing to shop in your local precinct over shopping online or in a large shopping centre.

Across our suburbs you'll find a diverse range of 53 shopping centres and strips. You can now explore these stores and services via Boroondara’s Love Local Life online directory, which outlines how businesses have adapted under the circumstances to offer a variety of COVIDSafe options, including click and collect, contactless delivery, outdoor dining and more.
