How to support local businesses

Many businesses in Boroondara were forced to close or limit operations due to Victorian Government COVID-19 restrictions and social distancing requirements.

Despite these challenges, many businesses have continued to operate by adapting and diversifying their offerings.

We encourage residents to continue to support the Boroondara business community by choosing to shop in your local precinct.

Outdoor trading

Outdoor trading will remain a feature over the summer to help bring Boroondara’s streets back to life and maximise opportunities for local businesses. This program is supported by funding from the Victorian Government’s COVIDSafe Outdoor Activation Fund 2021.

We'll be running a number of programs until 31 March 2022 to help support local businesses, including:

  • extending, enhancing and reinstating parklets across Boroondara’s shopping strips
  • continuing to waive all permit fees for footpath trading, trader parking permits and busking permits
  • delivering a program of roving street performers, musicians and other entertainment.

Visit Love Local Life to find outdoor trading locations near you or visit our Street Sounds page to find locations and times for our roving entertainment.
