We offer programs to help older people still living at home maintain social connections with their community.
We organise two types of bus trips for residents every month so you can get out and about, meet people and explore new and interesting places around Melbourne.
Mondays: full-day bus trip to a variety of places for lunch and exploration.
Wednesdays: afternoon bus trip to out-of-area shopping destinations.
We may also be able to assist with community transport to and from other activities, and are always happy to discuss requests with you.
Other social support providers
There are many seniors groups in Boroondara who also provide regular outings.
Aged care centres often provide activities for non-residents. Sometimes called 'day programs', these may include activities like sharing a cooked meal, arts and crafts, board games, discussion groups and exercise classes.
Some support providers also offer programs where volunteers will call or visit a person in their own home.
How to apply
These services are subsidised and provided under the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP). Find out how to access aged care services.
If you already receive these services from the City of Boroondara, you can contact our Active Ageing Services.
