Our Over 55s hub is filling up with lots of great new activities.
Being active is a great way to remain healthy even when you’re at home. While COVID-19 restrictions are starting to ease, it is still important to maintain social distancing, which is why many of the activities are online.
Connect with others through a remote coffee get together via your local neighbourhood house, improve your online skills, join a Chatterbooks book chat, learn a musical instrument or language or participate in a local men’s shed.
You may also be able to get back to the outdoor activities you usually enjoy, like walking, riding your bike or playing golf - the site will show you which paths and clubs are in your local area. It even lists where you can go to get this year’s flu vaccination.
Whatever you enjoy, there are activities for everyone.
Victorian Seniors Festival virtual events and activities will also be searchable on the site.
Staying healthy isn’t just about staying physically active, it’s also about making sure you’re connecting with people even if you can’t be near them. The Over 55s hub also has lots of other great resources that help you stay happy and healthy at home.
To inspire residents to connect with family members online, City of Boroondara is hosting free online cooking classes for residents over 55 and their grandchildren. Grandparents will virtually connect with their grandchildren to cook up some delicious recipes and have a bit of fun.
