The redesign and rebuild of Ashburton Seniors Centre is now complete. Ashburton Seniors Centre was completely redeveloped to enhance and support the lifestyles of hundreds of older community members who use the centre each week. The new $6.99M centre features spaces that are easily accessible to deliver the many activities and services the community needs.
The new building is fully accessible and has a large hall, dining room, four activity spaces, large kitchen, administration area, two kitchenettes, storage and an outdoor courtyard complete with outdoor kitchen. The lower ground level features a carpark, storage, meals on wheels distribution point and scooter charging station.
The Federal Government contributed $10,000 through the Stronger Communities Grant for an outdoor ‘culture kitchen’ that will be used by the CALD community groups and others to celebrate Boroondara’s diverse cultures and associated foods.
Due to the COVID-19 crisis, the official centre opening was held virtually. You can view the virtual opening video by visiting the Ashburton Seniors Centre project page.
