Activities for over 55s

Join us on Tuesday and Friday mornings between 9:30 am to 11 am at the Seniors Exercise Park in Victoria Park, Kew. These sessions are run by a group of 10 volunteers from the community who have undertaken training with the National Ageing Research Institute (NARI). This friendly, enthusiastic team is equipped to run our Come and Try sessions at the park, and demonstrate how you can use the equipment safely and effectively. If you’re interested in ways to improve balance, strength, or mobility, or you want to try a new activity this year, come along to our next Come and Try session.

Over 50 and looking at learning a new skill? Join thousands of Australians who are taking our FREE courses on everything from how to access the internet, using your device and keeping in touch with others online. These sessions will also help you to navigate through the world of internet plans, data plans, Wi-Fi and a basic guide on how to use applications (apps)

Learn how to do cryptic crossword puzzles for some fantastic mental exercise! Online sessions via zoom. Two sessions run on Monday. The morning session runs from 10:30 am to 11:30 am and is for participants who have experience doing cryptic crosswords, and the afternoon session runs from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm and is for participants who have experience doing cryptic crosswords. Cost: $40, and you must be a member to participate ($15 per year for adults).

Intermediate French for those with 18 to 24 months’ experience. Immerse yourself in the beauty of the French language, develop an understanding of the culture and traditions. Presented by Hawthorn Community House. Anyone can attend regardless of location.

Slow, mindful movements to prepare the body to relax and stay in postures for longer periods of time. Suitable for all abilities, no experience necessary.

A unique yoga class with a qualified yoga instructor who will work with the participants to build the class to suit each student’s capacity.

Specialised classes to address all areas that contribute to lower back stiffness, aches and pain, as well as preventative care.
