Activities for over 55s

This weekly class with our nutritionist Simone, guides participants through the preparation of an inexpensive meal for one. The food will be purchased and prepared together for participants to take home and enjoy.
Runs weekly on Mondays from 10 am to 12 pm. Bookings are required, please contact us to book.

Guitar, banjo, ukulele, mandolin, keyboard, and singers – all welcome! You must bring your own instrument. Fridays (1st and 3rd of every month) from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm. Costs $5 each session and you need to have a membership ($15). Bookings are required - please contact us to book.

Located at Alamein railway station. Open to Boroondara men, all ages and by invitation. Booking required - please contact us to book. Runs weekly on Tuesdays from 9:30 am to 11:30 am and from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm. Cost: $30 per term or $2 per session.

Our Art & Craft groups offer essential mind, body and spirit benefits. Stimulate your brain, develop your fine motor skills and have a laugh with a great bunch of people.

Classes include:

Social Stitches
This independently run social group meets weekly. The social stitches share skills and advice on a variety of needle work and thread-based activities whilst having a chat, enjoying a cuppa and forming friendships.

Pottery
Get your hands dirty and have some fun in our teacher led pottery class. With a mix of hand building, wheel throwing and turning, glazing and firing you can make a range of pieces you can be proud of. Pottery is not only great for building hand-eye coordination but strength too. Individuals work on their own projects with the help and guidance of Ursula, a fellow potter and teacher.

Art Therapy
Join art therapist Eric who guides and facilitates our art class. Eric has an interest in freehand drawing and painting (using varying paint mediums). Materials are provided as is morning tea and the opportunity to meet likeminded class members to meet and chat with.

Our experienced tutor teaches a variety of art mediums: drawing skills, oil painting, portrait painting, pen and ink work and soft pastels. Materials list provided. New queries will be directed to our art teacher Karen prior to enrolment.

Regular concerts, which are popular with older Kew residents. Our band features brass, woodwind and percussion instruments. We play swing, classical, pop, film and traditional band music (e.g. marches). Runs on Fridays during the school term from 7:30 pm to 10 pm. Cost: free.

Learn to paint or draw plants in this specialized class. Our tutor, Marg has many years’ experience teaching botanical art. Suitable for art students with some experience.

Camberwell Camera Club, a friendly group with nearly 70 years of history and about 150 active members, welcomes new members with all levels of photographic experience. The Club meets every Monday at 7:30 pm for guest presentations and workshops, as well as offering mid-week outings, and it's annual ‘beyond point and shoot’ course which will help you take your photography to the next level. Camberwell Chorale is a mixed Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass choir, performing major and lesser known works from the classical chorale repertory, typically with around five concerts each year. New choristers are always welcome. Please feel free to come and sit in on a rehearsal before you join. Cost: price varies, please see our website for more information. Runs on Tuesdays from 7:30 pm to 10 pm.
