Through Road Early Learning is a children’s learning centre in Camberwell that provides kindergarten and day care programs. We recently upgraded Through Road Early Learning to better meet the needs of children and staff now and into the future.
The State Government contributed $300,000 for this upgrade as part of its Building Blocks Early Learning Facility Upgrade grants program.
About the project
The location of the Through Road Early Learning site is 171 Through Road in Camberwell. The centre has been a much-loved and valuable service for children and families in Boroondara for over 35 years.
We provide and maintain the building for Through Road Early Learning, and these upgrades will help the centre to better deliver the kindergarten and day care programs valued by families.
Key features of the upgrade include:
- an extension and upgrade to one of the rooms to allow for separate purpose-built learning spaces for three- and four-year-old kindergarten programs
- internal modifications to ensure the facility is accessible for children and families of all abilities
- a new kitchen, bathrooms, a storeroom, and children’s amenities
- a dedicated sleep area for babies.

| January 2022 | Temporary relocation | We completed the relocation of Through Road Early Learning Centre to temporary accommodation at 230 Balwyn Road in Balwyn. |
| January 2022 | Construction begins | Construction at Through Road Early Learning Centre is in progress. |
| November 2022 | Completion | The project was completed and childcare and kindergarten programs resumed on site. |
