Works including lighting, sportsground drainage, car parking, fencing and landscaping are planned to commence after the 2019 winter sports season. These works have been budgeted for under infrastructure and landscape works in the Council report dated 10 December 2018.
The draining and irrigation works are now complete. The carpark works are planned to commence on 20 November 2019 and expected completion by Christmas. In the event that works are not completed, we will minimise site fencing as far as possible and commence final works on 13 January 2020.
As there will be contractors and machinery onsite, the car park area beyond the East Malvern Tennis Club entrance will be fenced off in the interest of community safety. This temporary fencing will be removed once the works are completed.
The 16 car parks at the entrance to the car park will remain available.
On a related matter, the community consultation for the Dorothy Laver Reserve West Landscape Plan is now closed and is being presented to Council at the Services Special Committee meeting at Council Chambers at 7.45pm 12 December 2019 for a final decision.
About the project
In late 2018, we conducted a public consultation about proposed works at Dorothy Laver Reserve West. All consultation feedback received was reviewed and collated into an officer report to Council, which was tabled at a Services Special Committee meeting on 12 November 2018.
A decision was made on the Dorothy Laver Reserve West proposal at the Council meeting on 10 December 2018 and a number of actions recommended. Information about our decision and these actions is available in the Dorothy Laver Reserve West: fact sheet.
