The City of Boroondara seeks to clarify information in the news article ‘Councils left out in plan for car parks’, which was published by Nine Papers on 16 September 2021 and online 15 September 2021.

The article implies Council was not consulted on the federal government’s commuter car parks fund until the announcement for the program was made by the federal government. Due to an incomplete submission to a Senate committee on this matter, the comments in this article do not accurately reflect what transpired.

The City of Boroondara was first consulted by the office of Federal Member for Kooyong Mr Josh Frydenberg in February 2019; in October 2019 Council received further communication by federal government bureaucrats on commuter car parks.
