Council is delivering increased planning certainty for the community through Boroondara’s new Local Planning Policy Framework (LPPF).
At the Council meeting on 22 August, Council adopted Amendment C229, which introduces an updated LPPF including a new Municipal Strategic Statement (MSS) and simplified Local Planning Policies.
Cr Jim Parke, Mayor of Boroondara, said that the MSS sets out planning principles for our city’s future and provide policy direction for our commercial areas, open space, housing and other key planning issues facing Boroondara.
“The structure of the previous LPPF was long winded and verbose. This amendment enables Council to create a more succinct framework that clearly articulates what Council wants to achieve with respect to local land use and development outcomes.
“This amendment also reinforces the protection of Boroondara’s neighbourhood character through improved policy guidance for residential development and for alterations to buildings in the Heritage Overlay”, Cr Parke said.
The amendment will now be submitted to the Minister for Planning for approval.
