The City of Boroondara is calling for nominations for the 2017 Boroondara Citizen, Young Citizen and Volunteer of the Year Awards. Nominations are open from 16 September until 5pm Friday 11 November 2016.
Mayor of Boroondara, Councillor Jim Parke, said the awards are an opportunity to celebrate our outstanding citizens and give them the recognition they deserve.
“We are very fortunate to have such giving and talented community members who dedicate a huge amount of time and effort to making our city a better place to live, work or study. This is a chance to recognise their hard work and commitment, and to say thank you.
“You can nominate a family member, colleague or friend who demonstrates exceptional leadership or commitment towards improving the quality of life for others.
“Nominating someone is easy. Nomination forms and award guidelines are available online at www.boroondara.vic.gov.au/citizen-awards or at any of Council's customer service centres or libraries,” Cr Parke said.
The awards are open to Australian citizens living, studying, working or volunteering in Boroondara. The Young Citizen Award nominee must be under 26 years of age (as at 26 January 2017).
The winners will be selected by a panel that will assess the nominee’s participation in activities that benefit the community, as well as other criteria.
The awards will be announced at the Boroondara Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony on 26 January 2017.
