The new Fenton Reserve has opened in Kew.

Mayor of Boroondara, Councillor Jim Parke said the community played a central role designing the new park, and will celebrate the new space at a barbecue on Saturday 27 August.

"We understand Fenton Reserve is very important to the local community, who were closely involved when we were designing the new public space," Cr Parke said.

"The redeveloped Fenton Reserve delivers what many local people asked for during consultation – a space that allows them to plant and harvest together as a group, and an area for children to play.

"When planning how to make the most of this valued park, Council sought a balanced plan that acknowledged the needs of all park users.

"The local community will be coming together on Saturday 27 August to celebrate their wonderful new open space."

A Friends group for Fenton Reserve is currently being formed.

Community members wanting to become involved with this group and activities at the park can contact the City of Boroondara on [email protected] or 9278 4595.

The Fenton Reserve opening celebration is on between 12pm and 1pm on Saturday 27 August.

There will be a BBQ lunch and fun activities for the kids.

To RSVP, community members can email [email protected] or phone 9278 4595.
