What do beekeeping demonstrations, live music, food trucks and Peppa Pig have in common? They’re just some of the many attractions you’ll find at the Boroondara Village Festival, a free event to be held on Sunday 4 March at the Hawthorn Arts Centre!
Celebrate everything that’s great about our community and have some fun in the process as you explore nine different festival zones featuring activities, performances and workshops for all ages.
On the main stage, Peppa Pig will delight and entertain the young ones with a live performance, while in the pop-up park you can ask an arborist your tricky tree questions, and in the community hub you can help the local Men’s Shed group build a native beehive.
Other attractions include live music, roaming performers, food trucks, pedal bike smoothies, tours of the historic Hawthorn Arts Centre, virtual reality experiences, craft activities for kids, face painting, workshops on decluttering and small space gardens and much more.
This Boroondara Village Festival has been organised in celebration of the launch of the Boroondara Community Plan, a 10-year vision for our City’s future, and will coincide with and complement the Glenferrie Festival.
Cr. Jim Parke, Mayor of Boroondara is excited to be launching the Plan, which is the result of many months of community consultation.
“To plan for our city’s future, and to respond to our changing needs over time, we needed to know what was important to our community,” he said.
“So we initiated the largest ever community consultation in Council’s history, and received an impressive 11,845 responses from community members who told us what mattered to them in Boroondara.”
“This feedback helped us shape the plan, which will influence everything Council does over the next decade, and ensure we are responding to the priorities of our community.”
The Boroondara Village Festival will be held at the Hawthorn Arts Centre on Sunday 4 March from 12-4pm.
