The City of Boroondara last night resolved to continue to fund services for vulnerable residents as a result of a recent review of some of Council’s funding and service arrangements.

Council will conduct a competitive grants process in 2018 for the provision of these services from 1 July 2019 to 30 June 2022 to ensure it meets its obligations under the Local Government Act to demonstrate best value for ratepayers funds.  The majority of Council’s grants are awarded through a competitive process.

Council resolved to provide an additional year of funding to the current provider, Camcare, up until 30 June 2019, to assist them to prepare for this grants process.

Cr Phillip Healey, Mayor of Boroondara, said that:

“The City of Boroondara is committed to ensuring vulnerable members of our community are supported. But we must do this in a manner which delivers best value for the funds our ratepayers provide.”
