Eighteen of Boroondara’s centenarians shared morning tea with family and friends on 1 May.

This is the sixth year the City of Boroondara has hosted the morning tea which celebrates the lives and achievements of its treasured oldest citizens.

Cr Phillip Healey, Mayor of Boroondara, says “Social connectedness is essential to the health and wellbeing of our seniors and this morning allows our centenarians to connect with old friends and even make some new ones.”

“The different generations here today have so much to teach and learn from each other and seeing the children interact with the centenarians is always magical.”

Boroondara has the fifth largest population of residents aged 85 and over of any local government area in Victoria and this morning tea is just one of the ways the City of Boroondara recognises its older residents.

The morning involved coffee, cake and some light entertainment from Camberwell Primary School who sang Happy Birthday in both English and French to their special audience.
