The City of Boroondara has adopted a comprehensive community plan that will shape the Council’s work over the next decade.

The Boroondara Community Plan has been a long time in the making and is the product of the largest community consultation ever undertaken by Council.

During a consultation period that spanned several months, Council asked residents about what mattered most to them. An incredible 11,845 responses were received, highlighting clearly what the community valued.

Seven key priority themes emerged, and these themes form the basis of the Boroondara Community plan:

  • Your community, services and facilities
  • Your parks and green spaces
  • The environment
  • Neighbourhood character and heritage
  • Getting around Boroondara
  • Your local shops and businesses
  • Civic leadership and governance

Cr. Jim Parke, Mayor of Boroondara, is grateful for the community’s input and support throughout the process.

“As a council, we represent the interests of our community. It’s our role to deliver on the priorities our residents have identified as important, including those regarding their current and future health and wellbeing,” he said.

“Thank you to all the community members who have been involved in developing the plan to help shape the future of our great city.

“You have told us what is important to you. We have listened to you and this plan will guide Council to deliver what you told us was important.”

Residents are invited to celebrate the official launch of the plan – and all that is great about Boroondara – at the Boroondara Village Festival on Sunday 4 March from 12pm to 4pm, Hawthorn Arts Precinct.
