It’s that time of year again, when Boroondara’s older residents are faced with the enjoyable challenge of trying to get to as many Seniors Festival events as possible.

Starting on Saturday 7 October and running until Thursday 19 October, the 2017 Boroondara Seniors Festival program is packed with exciting activities and events for seniors, their friends and family. The festival’s theme this year is “You’re Welcome” -- a welcome made even warmer by the fact that so many of the events are free or low cost.

Whether you’re a fan of theatre, dancing, educational sessions, concerts or social exercise, you’ll be spoilt for choice. Haven’t seen a copy of the program yet? Pick one up at a Boroondara City Council office, library, your local neighbourhood house, or download it from our website.

Variety is the spice of life

One guaranteed highlight this year is the launch event, a free variety concert and afternoon tea at the Hawthorn Arts Centre on Monday 9 October. Boasting a line-up of talented artists performing everything from toe-tapping gypsy tunes and hits of the 60s to traditional Italian and Chinese music, it promises to be unforgettable. While there is no admission charge, bookings are essential.

As this is part of the 35th annual Victorian Seniors Festival, free public transport will be available for Victorian Seniors Card holders (between 8 and 15 October). Getting from one festival event to the next has never been easier.

The City of Boroondara values the important contribution our older residents have made--and continue to make--to our community, and the Victorian Seniors Festival in Boroondara is all about celebrating them in style!
