We have received an update from the state government’s Level Crossing Removal project team that the Toorak Road project is expected to be completed ahead of schedule, however there will be further disruptions over the next few months in order to make this happen.

Travellers should anticipate an increase in travel times, with road detours in place around Toorak Road and replacement buses operating between select stations on the Glen Waverley line in March and April 2020.

Disruptions to travel include:

  • Buses will replace trains on the Glen Waverley line between Burnley and Darling from 11.15pm to last train each night from Saturday 14 March until Thursday 26 March 2020.
  • Pedestrian detours are in place for the Toorak Road railway pedestrian crossing until Sunday 15 March 2020, via the rail underpass between Norford Grove and Talbot Crescent.
  • Select night works will be taking place on the rail bridge at Talbot Crescent rail reserve between Thursday 19 March and Saturday 28 March 2020.

A 9-day construction blitz to remove the boom gates and make the new rail bridge operational will occur in the rail corridor between Kooyong and Tooronga stations from 9pm Friday 3 April until 5am on Monday 13 April 2020.

During this period, buses will replace trains between Burnley and East Malvern and Toorak Road will be closed in both directions on weekends and overnight during weekdays.
