Coronavirus update 13 March 2020

Coronavirus (COVID-19): guidance and support.

Kerbside recycling collections are again being sent to SKM for processing and not to landfill as of Wednesday 13 March.
The Environment Protection Authority (EPA) has confirmed that the recycling processor SKM has met compliance requirements at their Laverton North site and can resume accepting recycling materials for processing.
While recycling materials are now being processed as normal, this issue has served as a timely reminder of the importance of reducing the amount of waste that we create.
Use our A to Z Recycling guide to learn not only what to do with unwanted items, but how you can make better choices that will reduce your overall waste. We’ve also published some handy top tips you can use to reduce the amount you send to recycling.

Council continues to advocate for the Victorian Government to use its Sustainability Fund for the purpose it was created - to assist local government, to stabilise the recycling industry and to develop more infrastructure and facilities to reduce the risk of this situation happening again.

Again, we thank Boroondara residents for your patience and understanding during this period, and for your continued efforts to reduce the overall amount of waste in our beautiful City.
